Submitted by Dan on 03/07/2009 – 10:51 AMNo Comment

SOPHIE ONE RES
thelondonpaper and MAMA Festivals are pleased to announce that tickets
for their new 2-night, live music event thelondonpaper HEADLINERS will
be going on sale from 2 July exclusively with thelondonpaper by either
going online to thelondonpaper.com/headliners or by taking a copy of
the paper into HMV. For readers of thelondonpaper, tickets will be
priced at £17.50 for one day or £30 for a two-day pass; they will then
go on general sale a week later on Thursday 9 July.

thelondonpaper HEADLINERS will be taking place on Wed 16 and Thurs 17
September 2009 bringing together up to 20 of Soho’s finest venues to
create a celebration of live music in the city,

Operating a single wristband system, the event will allow people to
move between venues, catching as many bands as they want.
Chart-topping acts will rub shoulders with breaking new bands, and up
and coming talent will find themselves sharing stages with the finest
singer songwriters around. In the spirit of thelondonpaper, the event
will also include a number of impromptu free gigs in both established
and more innovative, unexpected venues.

The first acts have now been revealed as multi platinum selling Sophie
Ellis-Bextor, upcoming popster Frankmusik, quirky rockers The Magic
Numbers and London’s quiffed pop pioneer Esser, along with Animal
Kingdom, Just Jack, Tommy Reilly, Fink, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Flood
of Red,  Ben Howard, Tommy Reilly,  Dot Allison, The Boxer Rebellion,
Gabriella Cilmi and stunning female songstress VV Brown. Other major
artists are to be announced over the coming weeks, with the final
line-up expected to offer a showcase of over 50 acts.

Malcolm Mackenzie, Music Editor of thelondonpaper says, “London’s
musical taste is the most eclectic in the world, it’s only right and
proper that thelondonpaper HEADLINERS delivers a line-up that caters
to the enormous variety of music fans in the capital, and it will!’

thelondonpaper, the capital’s most widely distributed free paper,
believes that at a time when leading Soho music venues are being
closed down, this event will reignite the music scene in the area with
two days of noise, fun and talent. The sonic experience will showcase
the diversity of London’s broad music culture, featuring the best in
pop, alternative, dance and more, performed across venues that lie on
many Londoners’ doorsteps, some of which are rarely used for live
music performance. It will also be a reminder of just how many vibrant
live music venues do actually operate in this location.

“In the past few year’s there’s been a significant decline in the live
music scene in Central London with the likes of the legendary Marquee
Club and the Astoria closing down most recently. thelondonpaper
HEADLINERS is a wonderful chance to reconnect the music scene,
allowing people to discover new and established venues and recapture
what the area used to be all about”, says Mark Ellicott, former
manager of the Astoria, and current manager of Heaven nightclub.

thelondonpaper HEADLINERS recognises the Capital’s love of music and
promises gigs in established venues such as Heaven, The Borderline,
The 100 Club, Madame Jojos, The Fly, Sound and the ICA, as well as
more unusual venues like the Leicester Square Theatre, HMV and Fopp,
plus several unconventional spaces.

Nicole Refson, Head of Marketing at thelondonpaper, commented:
“thelondonpaper HEADLINERS event will offer Londoners access to their
favourite artists on their office doorstep. With 16 acts of this
calibre being announced and many more to come, we’re confident it’s
going to be the hot ticket this Autumn, bringing the best of London’s
live music together in Soho”.

thelondonpaper are giving their readers a head start with this great
ticket offer and will be running promotions, exclusive talent and
venues announcements, celebrity gossip and much, much more. “The only
way to stay up to date is to keep picking up your copy of
thelondonpaper”, says Refson, “and of course, signing up for the
newsletter on our web site”.

Promoter Jon McIldowie, of Mean Fiddler adds, “We’re delighted to be
bringing some of the best new and established live music artists to
the heart of the UK’s cultural capital”.
